Welcome to Wellesbourne Allotment Association

We are a vibrant community of 150 Allotmenteers, working 131 Plots in 7 acres. We have some of the best soils in England for growing fruit and vegetables – soil which has been worked and improved by generations of Wellesbourne residents since 1838, making us some of the oldest allotments in the country.

OUR SITE - THE JEWEL IN THE CROWN OF WELLESBOURNE

The first record of allotments on Kineton road site was in 1838, making our site one of the oldest allotments in the UK. However, records show this site has been feeding local residents since 1733.

The site is 7 acres (just over 2.8 hectares) and we have 131 plots rented to 150 holders and their families of all ages, maintaining a self-supporting community. Most plots are let as half sized allotments, however there a few quarter sized plots too. Rental fee includes use of the water supply.

Some of our current plot holders can count back at least four generations of family who have grown on the site while others are new to the area, new to allotments & bring young children to their plots. Our latest survey showed more than 600 villagers receive fresh & wholesome allotment produce from our plot holders.

We maintain a dynamic allotment community that promotes and shares the benefits of gardening, improves village life for its residents and raises charitable funds.

We have very long history of supporting Wellesbourne and the surrounding areas.

We organise events for national & local TV & radio, take part in the NGS open day scheme, maintain a dementia-friendly plot, run educational projects for local kids & support a wide range of village events.
